About us

Siloe school is a government school on private property owned by Catholic Church. It is situated on 1547 Vreederust Farm, Thokgoaneng Village, 35 kms South of Polokwane on the R 37 National Road to Burgersfort. Siloe school for the blind caters for learners with blindness, partially sighted, multiple disability and albinism from Grade R to 7.

VISION

* To provide innovative and relevant educative instruction to visually impaired learners by guiding them to an independent responsible adulthood.

MISSION

* To support all learners, educators and the system as a whole so that the full range of learning needs can be met.

* The focus is on teaching and learning actors, with the emphasis on the development of good teaching strategies that will be of benefits to all learners.

* To overcome barriers in the system that prevents it from meeting the full range of learning needs. The focus is on the adaption and support system available in the classroom. To recognise and respect the differences amongst all stakeholders.

Siloe school for the blind is a special education centre providing for visually impaired children. The school boasts about 14 Professional Staff including the Principal , two (2) visually impaired Educators, twenty nine (29) support staff, one (1) School Health Staff, Governance Structure includes the School Governing Body (SGB). During the financial year 2020, a total number of 110 learners were registered and comprises 45 in foundation phase and 55 in the Intermediate Phase. The school has 9 classes that hosts Grade R to 7 and has boarding facilities for both males and females.
